Together, let's create a safe & fun experience

Guest Code of Conduct

  • Children and caregivers stay together at all times.

  • Use inside voices and walking feet in the museum.

  • Pick up toys and exhibit props when you are done using them.

  • Use toys for their intended use.

  • Treat others in a safe and respectful manner.

  • Lyn's Little Learners is designed for children 3 and under.

  • Adults must accompany children to the bathrooms.

Museum Policies

Please be aware that by entering the Children's Museum you consent to your voice, name, and/or likeness being used, without compensation, in photos, films and tapes for exploitation in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised, for eternity, and you release Oregon Center for Creative Learning, Its successors, assigns and licensees from any liability whatsoever of any nature.

Museum Policy:

Unaccompanied Guest Policy

For the safety of our guests, we do not allow any children without adults or adults without children. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years old or older.

Adults unaccompanied by children may be accompanied by a staff member, if staffing is available.

Birthday Party Policy:

Out of respect for all guests and the capabilities of our space, we are unable to accommodate birthday parties in our public areas.

If you are interested in having a birthday party at the museum, check out our Private Events  and connect with our Outreach Team to reserve our Culinary Studio, where we are able to accommodate celebrations. Private Events include a designated space for your party and museum admission.

Child/Adult Ratio Policy

For the enjoyment and safety of all of our guests, at least one adult is required to accompany up to 5 children.  This ensures that adults are able to interact with and keep eyes on all the children under their care.

Group Policy

For groups with 10 or more children, advanced reservations are required.  This allows us time to ensure that we are properly staffed for your party and notify our other guests of the increased number of people in the museum.

Animal Policy

We do not allow pets in the museum. Certified service animals are always welcome.  Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, “comfort”, “therapy”, or “emotional support animals” do not meet the definition of a service animal.

Substance Policy

Food is allowed at the table outside Lyn’s Little Learners, outside in the Outdoor Adventure or in the Annex Kitchen Studio.  Sealed drinks (water bottles, sippy cups) are allowed within the museum unless otherwise noted.  Notify staff immediately in the case of a spill.

The use of alcohol, tobacco, vaporizers, cannabis, or any illegal substance is strictly prohibited anywhere at the Children’s Museum and within 10 feet of any entrance.

Weapons Policy

For the safety of our children, no weapons (including concealed guns, open carry guns, or air guns) are allowed.  The Children's Museum of Southern Oregon, a private, non-profit Children's Museum and Preschool, is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment.  This policy is a proactive step towards reducing risks associated with intentional or accidental use of weapons regardless of whether a federal or state license to possess the same has been issued to the possessor.  Anyone possessing a weapon will be asked to remove it from our premises immediately. Refusal to do so will be considered trespassing.  The only exception to this policy is law enforcement.

Dress Code

Guests wearing or otherwise displaying obscene messages, symbols/language of hate, or content that is generally inappropriate for a children’s museum will not be allowed. This includes the display of imagery or words that convey violence, weaponry, profanity, racism, nudity, or incite unsafe behaviors. The Children’s Museum reserves the right to determine what imagery, terms, language, etc. fit the criteria above. Examples of prohibited symbolism: Nazi swastika; Confederate flag. 8.

Appropriate Behavior

Aggressive and threatening behaviors towards staff or other museum patrons are not tolerated and will result in removal from the facility. This includes but is not limited to: a. Threats of harm or physical violence. b. Derogatory or inappropriate comments or remarks about an individual(s) religion, culture, or race. c. Homophobic, sexist, or other derogatory language or remarks. d. Verbal abuse including offensive, profane, and vulgar language. e. Unwelcome and/or inappropriate sexual remarks or physical advances.

The health, safety, and comfort of our visitors is a high priority.
